Chapter IIDesign Philosophy

We do not start with a drawing. We start with the stone.

A bespoke piece from SOSNA is a calm, guided process — not a technical brief. You bring the occasion; we bring the stone, the sketch and the craftsmen. Most commissions complete in three unhurried exchanges.

The final form of the jewel always follows the stone — its structure, proportions and natural character. The design adapts to what is already there, rather than to a predetermined idea.

  • IThe stone leads — everything else adapts to it.
  • IIRestraint over ornament — proportion is the finish.
  • IIIExecuted by hand, in one house — no white-labelled workshops.
  • IVBuilt to be worn every day and to outlast a lifetime.
Chapter IIIBy the Numbers

A quiet workshop, measured by commissions — not campaigns.

A workshop sized to the mandates we accept. Every figure below is verifiable on request under NDA.

Chapter IVFrom Stone to Jewel

The stone is the beginning — the jewel is what follows.

Some clients arrive with a stone already chosen. Others select one with us during the process. Many begin with only an occasion, a wearer and a feeling. In every case the stone becomes the starting point for a piece shaped in direct, private conversation.

Many of the gemstones and diamonds we present as loose stones can be commissioned as bespoke jewels around them. We can also source a stone to a defined brief — origin, colour, weight, certification — through our Private Sourcing desk.

01

Your stone

Reset a family stone, a vintage piece or a stone already in your possession. Fresh laboratory report where useful; full incoming documentation.

02

Our cabinet

Choose from certified natural gemstones and diamonds already curated by the house — origin-reported, treatment-disclosed, ready to commission.

03

Sourced to brief

For a specific colour, origin or weight not currently in cabinet — a written brief opens a Private Sourcing mandate handled by the same principal.

Chapter VThe Principal
Lucia Sosna — Co-Founder & Principal Designer
V— SOSNA, MMXXVI

One name is responsible for every stone and every jewel that leaves the atelier.

Lucia Sosna
Co-Founder & Principal Designer

The atelier is led by a single principal responsible for every commission accepted — from first conversation, through stone selection, sketch and setting, to the final personal hand-over. No sub-agents. No white-labelled workshops. No anonymous intermediaries.

A decade and a half between the coloured-stone counters of Bangkok's JVC, the trading floors of Dubai's DMCC and the US wholesale market out of Florida shaped an approach that is deliberately narrow: fewer pieces, fully documented, fully owned.

  • GIA-trained gemmologist
  • ICA member — International Coloured Gemstone Association
  • Master goldsmith network — in-house team since 2011
  • Insured, bonded and audit-ready operations
Chapter VIThe Four Acts

Four unhurried steps from vision to heirloom.

A bespoke commission unfolds over four acts. From the first message to the final case, you have one dedicated advisor — the same person, throughout.

  1. I

    Private Consultation

A confidential conversation — in person, by video or in writing. We listen to the occasion, the wearer, the reference images, the metals you love and the stones that move you.

  2. II

    Design & Stone Selection

Hand-drawn sketches, gouache colour renderings and 3D previews around your chosen stone. A curated selection of certified natural gemstones matched to your brief — origin, cut, character. Fully itemized offer before we begin.

  3. III

    Atelier Craftsmanship

Master goldsmiths forge, cast, set and finish the piece by hand in platinum or 18k gold. Every stage is documented; you receive progress photographs at agreed milestones.

  4. IV

    Personal Hand-Over

The finished piece is delivered in person or by insured private courier — with the full laboratory report, the SOSNA house certificate and a written statement of provenance.

Chapter IXThe Atelier

Drawn, forged and set — by the same hands.

Every SOSNA commission is executed by a small team of master goldsmiths and setters we have worked with for more than a decade. No third-party workshops, no anonymous subcontractors.

The result is a piece with a single visual signature: quiet proportions, precise settings, and a stone that always keeps the last word.

Chapter 15Frequently Asked

Bespoke commissions, in plain language.

How long does a bespoke commission take?

Typically 8–14 weeks from confirmed design and stone selection to hand-over. Rush commissions can be discussed for anniversaries and proposals — please raise the deadline in your first message.

Do I need my own stone?

Not at all. Our house cabinet holds hundreds of certified natural gemstones and diamonds — we help you choose one that fits the piece, the budget and the occasion. If you have your own stone, we work around it.

Can I bring a family heirloom to be reset?

Yes. We regularly reset family stones and vintage pieces. We document the incoming stone, provide a fresh laboratory report if useful, and design around it with your input.

How is the price structured?

A bespoke quote combines the certified stone, the metal weight at day rate, the design and workshop hours, and any certifications. You receive a fully itemized offer before we begin — see Fees & Terms above.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — worldwide, by insured private courier. Customs, duties and documentation are handled by our team for the United States, EU, UK, Switzerland, Canada and the UAE as standard.

Can US retailers or designers commission through the US desk?

Yes. The Miami desk handles US wholesale on memo terms, W-9 and resale certificates. Trade counterparties receive net wholesale pricing and can hand-carry pieces across US industry weeks.

Do you offer lab-grown or synthetic stones as an alternative?

No — and this is not a matter of price. SOSNA Diamonds trades exclusively in natural, certified gemstones and diamonds. This is a permanent house standard.
